About me

I studied at the Royal College of Music, London where I was awarded a number of prizes including an Austrian Government Scholarship to study at the prestigious Mozart Academy of Music in Salzburg.

Following a further two years of study at the RCM Opera School I joined Opera North. I have also sung principal roles with Birmingham Music Theatre, Precinct Opera and the City of Birmingham Touring Opera.

On the concert stage I have been the soloist with orchestras including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the English String Orchestra and have given World Premieres of works by composers John Joubert and Philip Wilby in venues such as Westminster Abbey.

I have recorded for BBC Radio and Television and sung at events and concerts abroad including Austria, France, Germany, Kuwait and Malta.

I have always combined my performing and teaching careers and am currently a Vocal Tutor at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music. I also teach privately at home and my classical students include a winner of the BBC Choir girl of the Year Award, Choral Scholars at Oxford and Cambridge universities and members of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain.

My love of acting and stage work led me to teach at ‘Stagecoach ‘Theatre Arts Schools and also with sixth form students studying Performing Arts and Media Studies. I also run a community choir.

I have a particular concern for the rehabilitation of the damaged voice and as such work with clients referred to me by therapists from the Speech and Language Department of my local hospital.

I am an active member of the Association of Teachers of Singing, (AOTOS) the British Voice Association (BVA) and the Incorporated Society of Musicians and I currently have an enhanced CRB.

I am a Mentor for the Association of Teachers of Singing Pathways to Teaching course, and am the Assistant to the Director of the Professional Development Course.
