Joy Naylor

Cheshire Singing Teacher and Vocal Coach

Our daughter began working with Joy a relatively short time ago and we have been amazed and delighted by her progress and growing confidence. Joy has led her through the ABRSM grades V, VII and VIII, all of which she passed with high distinctions, and has prepared her for Choral Scholarships at Queen's College, Oxford and King's College, London, both of which she was awarded. Our daughter has throughly enjoyed her lessons with Joy, finding them both informative and challenging. Joy is extremely conscientious and always encouraging, and we believe that our daughter's success is in no small measure due to Joy's excellent teaching'

Joy has helped me not only to find my voice, but to understand how sound is produced vocally. She has a creative approach and lessons are always productive and interesting. I cannot recommend her strongly enough.

My daughter has greatly benefitted from Joy's positive approach and expertise. The lessons have both enhanced my daughter's confidence in performance as well as her vocal skills for Music Theatre'.

Mrs S. Longwell (Sandbach)

The following statement is gladly provided to illustrate the excellent teaching and support Joy Naylor has provided for my daughter, Meriel, during the past six years through the Junior Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester.

Whilst she clearly had great potential my daughter had little or no knowledge of voice and singing technique . Joy immediately struck up an excellent relationship with her and was careful to gradually develop a shared understanding of her voice and its qualities.

Joy’s holistic approach ensured that Meriel was able to develop her repertoire, vocal technique , range and tone, and it is to Joy’s credit that Meriel subsequently learnt the importance of caring for her voice.

Under Joy’s guidance Meriel has gone from strength to strength winning the Helen Latto Soroptomist Prize for singers in her final year at the JRNCM, before acquiring a Choral Scholarship at St. John’s College, Oxford.

Joy has been an inspiration to Meriel.

She has that unique quality of being able to tap into a student’s personality and character so as to gradually plant seeds of technique, musicianship and performance that have the potential to flower into brilliant singing.

As Meriel’s father I am immensely proud of my daughter’s achievement , however, I recognise that Joy has more than provided outstanding teaching , support and assistance to enable her to reach the standard she has achieved .
